Despite Oracle’s withdrawal there is still a full lineup of teams for the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series sailing regatta in March

 

The Louis Vuitton Pacific Series sailing regatta will have a full host of teams, despite the withdrawal of American syndicate Oracle.

 

Oracle pulled out of the March series to concentrate on America’s Cup preparations.

 

Emirates Team New Zealand boss Grant Dalton says they have eight teams signed up for the regatta and the format wil not be affected by Oracle’s withdrawal

Dec. 18 (Bloomberg) — TAG Heuer, the Swiss watchmaker owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, will scale back using Tiger Woods in its marketing in coming months as he takes an indefinite break from golf.

TAG Heuer will limit using Woods’s image in certain markets “for a period of time, depending on his decision about returning to professional golf,” the company said in a statement today. TAG said it will continue its relationship with Woods.

The company, based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, said in a statement earlier this week that it was assessing its options with the golfer, who signed an endorsement agreement with TAG Heuer in 2002. Accenture Plc, the consulting company, ended its six-year relationship with Woods and Procter & Gamble Co. is phasing the athlete out of promotions for its Gillette brand.

“The partnership with Tiger Woods will continue,” Jean- Christophe Babin, TAG Heuer president and chief executive officer, said in the statement today. No more details were immediately available, a company spokeswoman said in an e-mail.

LVMH fell 57 cents to 75.16 euros today in Paris. The world’s largest luxury-goods company has advanced 57 percent this year.

Auckland International Boat Show and Louis Vuitton Trophy to combine?

Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour and America’s Cup bases are slated for removal/relocation and replacement with events facilities designed to turn the Viaduct area into an outstanding marine events centre.

The first stage of the redevelopment will get underway early next year and the first event in the new layout is scheduled to be the combined Auckland International Boat Show and Louis Vuitton Trophy regatta.

Both events are scheduled to start on 10 March 2010 , subject to final confirmation that the Louis Vuitton Trophy will return to Auckland. That is expected in the next day or so.

Because of the pressure on space in the Viaduct Harbour the temporary marina arrangements will be shifted from Te Wero island to the southern edge of the Viaduct harbour and the two areas will be joined with one of two bridges.

The second bridge will run from the marina to the western Alinghi base area – where there will be further exhibition areas for the Auckland International Boat Show.

The changes were outlined at a meeting of the Marine industries Association by Executive Director, Peter Busfield and Craig Furlong, Manger of the Viaduct Harbour Marine Village.
For the Louis Vuitton Trophy it is planned to move the centre of the Louis Vuitton village to the southern side of the Viaduct, where a media centre will be created in Market Square, close to the Simunovich Fisheries area and adjacent to the new Boat Show marina.

The relocation of the Media Centre and associated stages will be close to the bars and cafes surrounding the Viaduct harbour allowing competitors, media, and fans to enjoy the numerous and very handy watering holes surrounding the area.

Although the Auckland International Boat Show will end on the 14 March, the Louis Vuitton Trophy will continue to 22 March.

Running the two events together is expected to attract additional international media and international marine trade who will be able to cover both events. It will be the biggest maritime event in Auckland since the 30th and 31st America’s Cups.
